Professor Marty Ambrose was born in St. Louis, Missouri, but, after almost three decades of living in Southwest Florida, she considers herself almost a native Floridian. She attended the University of Missouri, and earned a B.A. degree in English; then, she traveled to England and attended graduate school at the University of York. She earned an M.Phil degree in English Language and Literature fulfilling a dream of studying the British Romantics in England. She is presently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in English at the University of South Florida.
After finishing her graduate work at York, Professor Ambrose began teaching at Edison State College and the University of South Florida in 1983, and has taught composition, creative writing, American Literature, and British literature full-time at Edison State College and part-time at Univ. of South Florida. She has chaired the English Department, served on multiple committees and now coordinates the Writing Center.
Aside from teaching and college service, Professor Ambrose's other life is that of a mystery writer; she is publishing the fifth book in her Mango Bay Mystery Series at the end of this year and working on a novella. A resident of Pine Island with her husband, WINK-TV media personality, Jim McLaughlin, Professor Ambrose has the best of both worlds as an academic and fiction writer.
